Matthew Lageman - 2/23/2022

Matthew Lageman is a staff chaplain at the Cancer Care Center. He attended Brescia University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with an Emphasis in Pastoral Ministry in 2017. He went on to complete three units of Clinical Pastoral Education to focus specifically on hospital chaplaincy. During this time, he focused his education on grief work and family dynamics. He will complete his fourth unit in March of 2022.

Mr. Lageman worked as a youth and young adult minister for 18 years. His primary areas of focus were in family care and retreat direction. He started working as a staff chaplain for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in January 2019. As an inpatient chaplain, he served in all areas of care while focusing on critical care and oncology. He has served as a Cancer Care Center Chaplain since June 2021.
During his seven years at the Jesuit Spiritual Center, I held a variety of positions. From July 1, 2017 until May 31, 2019, He was the Associate Director of Youth Ministry. He responsibilities included retreat design and direction for students at Catholic schools in Ohio and Kentucky, ministerial formation for the Ignite Interns at the Jesuit Spiritual Center, praise and worship leadership, and operations management for the intern’s residence.
