ZERO and Us TOO are working directly with IQVIA to recruit PATIENTS & CAREGIVERS who have had their, or their partners PSA double within one year after treatment. Please read the below for more details if you qualify and to fill out the screener provided by IQVIA.

IQVIA (www.iqvia.com), a healthcare research firm, is currently conducting a focus group study with patients who have experienced a doubling of their Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) level within a year of being treated for prostate cancer (sometimes his is also called biochemically recurrent prostate cancer).

The video focus groups will last approximately 2.5 hours. If you are eligible, you will also be asked to complete a form which confirms your diagnosis and a brief online survey about your symptoms. In appreciation of your time, after the focus group, you will receive a $275 electronic gift card.

This research will focus on gaining an understanding of your experience with biochemically recurrent prostate cancer. This research may help improve our overall understanding of the patient and caregiver experience in high risk biochemically recurrent prostate cancer. The focus groups will be scheduled to take place the next several weeks of 2023.

The study is strictly for scientific research purposes; there will be absolutely no sales or promotional activities.

Using Zoom Chat

We have previously talked about using Zoom Chat, but some members still don’t understand the process. U C Health Memory Study

Thanks for your interest in the study!

We do have a requirement that BMI must be 25 or greater……so if that excludes you, please feel free to pass along the information below to others in your cancer support community. However, please note that a patient with any type of current cancer or cancer within the last five years would not be appropriate for our study, but someone with non-brain cancer diagnosed more than five years ago might be appropriate. If the patient received chemotherapy, we would need to screen them carefully for permanent cognitive change associated with chemotherapy.

The study involves changing the foods you eat and taking a nutritional supplement. In order to qualify, participants must be between the ages of 50-65, must not have diabetes, must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or greater, (here is a link to an online BMI calculator…. https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm ) and must have some complaints of memory problems, but not diagnosed with dementia. The study lasts 12 weeks and involves 3 or 4 study visits with memory testing and blood draws. Two of the study visits (the first visit and the final visit) last approximately 3 hours but the other visits last only 30 minutes. Total payment for study participation varies between $175 - $200.

YouTube Table of Contents (TOC) and Time Line Indexing

YouTube has always given anyone that posts videos the ability to create a table of contents that can be used by the viewer to jump to certain parts of the video. For example, in Bernadette’s video the main theme is Focal Laser Ablation (FLA) but if you were to approach this presentation saying to yourself that I am not interested in FLA you would miss a really good conversation about biopsies, the use of MRI to help diagnose prostate cancer and Genomic Testing just to mention a few subjects.
The way this works is that you click on the following link:

This will take you to Bernadette’s video on YouTube. If this is the first time you have viewed this video you will be presented with the following . You should see the “Table of Contents - TOC” (indicated by the Purple Arrow) and the “Show More” button (indicated by the Red Arrow”).

To view the TOC, click on the “Show More” button and the following will appear.

As an example, say you are looking over the TOC and you want to see what Bernadette has to say about Biopsies so you would click on “04:38” (indicated by the Red Arrow) which is 4 minutes 30 seconds into the presentation. The video in the viewer would change to the start of the section on “History of Biopsy”.

Now comes the cool part of how YouTube is allowing you to spend less time moving all over trying to find something you thought you saw and jump directly to the part you are interested in. If you take your cursor and move it to the bottom part of the Viewer the Start/Stop button, Volume control, and the Timeline appears.

The current position is indicated by the red line with a dot. If you move your cursor along the line you will see that an image of what is on the video at a particular point on the timeline and includes the information that was shown in the TOC. For a company that would much prefer that you start a video and watch it from start to finish, YouTube has given us this time saving feature.

If you are not familiar Disqus (following program), it is one of the best and safest forum software packages available. You can use this Forum in three ways: read over the comments, start a new thread (placing comments in the first or top input control in the list) and/or reply (by clicking on the Reply button under the indicated comment) to an existing comment. If you want to make a comment you can either sign in using your Facebook, Twitter, or Google accounts or you can create an account on Disqus or just use a Guest account.

Most are not aware that if you use your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts to sign in you will be taken to which every website you choose and programs like Disqus does not have access to your password information. For example, if you want to use Google to sign in you will use a Google Login form on the Google website. You can verify this by looking at the address bar. Once you complete the Login process Google will ask you what you want information you want to share with Disqus. Most of the time this will be your username and/or email.

If you want to sign in as a guest all you have to do fill in a user name, email and check the box that says: “I’d rather post as a guest”. If you want to remain anonymous make the user name pcigmember and the email pcigmember@gmail.com click the ‘I’d rather post as a guest’ box. Remember, when you sign in as a guest, your post will not show up until the information in the post has been reviewed – this may take a while depending on who is verifying the comments.

Zoom Help

Section I

Before you can attend a Zoom meeting you must have received an invitation. As you can see from the following image of an invitation, it contains a link (indicated by the purple arrow), the Meeting Information – Id and Password, and phone numbers. Before you proceed, make note of the Meeting Id, Password and the Chicago or New York phone number. If you join via an iPhone or Android App or have problems getting connected you will need the Id and Password (number). If you are using a cell phone or tablet skip to the Section VI if not click on the Join Zoom Meeting link (again indicated by the purple arrow).

Section II

The next page contains a lot of information most of what you don’t need. Zoom is an App that runs on your computer. If you try to start anything involving the internet it will (for the most part) just cause problems. So just click on the “Open Zoom Meeting” button (indicated by a red arrow) and wait – don’t do anything. This may take several seconds depending on your computer.

Section III

The next page will appear once you have joined the meeting. Most of the time you will see something in the background that indicated that you have reached the right meeting. Getting the audio correct can be a problem. The thing to remember is that if you are using a desk or laptop computer most of the time you are going to be using the computer’s audio or a headset plugged into the computer. If you can not hear or when you say something nobody responds you might have to adjust your audio connection. The first thing to do is move your cursor towards the lower left hand corner and make sure that the Microphne icon does not have a line through it. As shown in the following image if you want to Mute the Microphone click on the icon.

A normal connection will look like what is indicated with the green arrow. This states that you are connected via the Computer’s Audio Connection. To change the connection click on the button indicated with the red arrow.

If everything is working properly skip to Section V

Section IV

If you click on the Join Audio button you would see the following. At this point you should have the “Computer Audio – Connected” and if everything is working push the red button to Leave everything the way it now. If it is not working you can either change the computer's audio settings or you can change over to a phone connection. To Test and if necessary change the audio setting click on the link indicated with the orange arrow. If you want to change to a phone click on the “Phone Call” button where you will have to provide the Meeting ID and Password from the invitation.

If you hear the ringtone click the Yes button if not click on the down arrow indicated by the purple button. In the drop down list you should have a list of all the audio devices available on you computer. This might be speaker or if you have a headset it should be in the list. If you select another device and you hear the tone click Yes.

Go through the same process with the Microphone.

Section V

If the following does not appear move your cursor across the sceen. To see who all has joined the meeting click on the Participats Icon and a list box will pop-up. Click on the X to make the list box disappear. Chat and Reactions are self explanatory and you should not worry about the Share Screen and Record.

Section VI

If you have an Apple or Android device please install the appropreate Zoom app. You will not be hosting a meeting so you will not be required to sign in or pay any money. One the app is installed just start it. You will have to have the Meeting Id and Password from the invitation. Make sure that you give Zoom access to your phone's audio and video by both not turning them during setup and allow access when asked.
